Honors: Mervyn was a two-time CFL All-Star and a member of the BC Lions Wall of Fame.

Short Biography: Mervyn Fernandez joined the Raiders in 1987 after playing in the Canadian Football League from 1982-86. “Swervin” Mervyn, as he was called, played in 86 games in six seasons with the Raiders, with 50 starts and 209 pass receptions for 3,764 yards and 19 TDs. The San Jose, California native who starred at San Jose State University recorded a 1,000-yard receiving season in 1989 (1,069). Fernandez, who was originally drafted by the Raiders in the 10th round in 1983, played in three post season games for the Raiders where he caught eight passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Fernandez spent all six seasons (1982-86, 1994) of his CFL career with the BC Lions, and recorded 399 receptions, 6,690 receiving yards and 58 TDs. The 1985 CFL Most Outstanding Player won two Grey Cups with BC. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
